I agree that right now is not a great time to be a seller. The market is flooded with bikes. If your not in a hurry and the right buyer comes along, better for you. If you need the money, well....not so good for you.

Not a great time of year to sell IMO. Pretty much everyone that wants to ride buys in early to late spring, so the market is hot then. You will get higher trade in allowance (if you want to go that route) or, you will get a higher price private sale in the early months of riding. This year is abnormal with all the 2nd hand bikes out there for sale and the dealers giving some damn good deals on left over models, not to mention that Quebec has had a lot of excellent deals due to their rediculous registration fees. Anything over a 600cc bike always has and always will be "harder to sell" due to higher insurance costs, new riders and alot of insurance companies having a "restricted list". To make a long story short,,,,,,,,,,,,If you don't absolutely need the cash, hold your asking price and if it doesn't sell, wait till spring to give her a go.

the news is reporting how great our economy is compared to others but i don't think disposeable income is out there like it once was and banks are reluctant to loan money at affordable rates to first time borrowers . i know my play money fund has been nickled and dimed to death over the last couple years due to property taxes , license fee's etc :angry-fire:

Like everyone is saying, the market is flooded!

i just sold my bike about 2 weeks ago and bought a new one (new to me).

your bike has to be priced better than others in order to sell it. mine sold in 3 days (lucky). i'll be honest, when i was looking for a bike i came across some ridiculous prices.

Most people dont realise that their bike (most of the time) is not worth as much as they owe on it!!

Bingo. When I want to sell a bike, I check kijiji & here for the 'going rate' of whatever I'm selling, and I post mine for a couple hundred bucks less.

Bike: many
I find bikes in the greater moncton area are always priced 10% higher than anywheres else. I mean a 2000 R6 or F4 shouldn't be worth 4500-5000$ but will pull it. Pretty impresive for 10 plus year old bikes. Rule of thumb for me is 5 years old is worth half of new, not ten years old.
